Removing Auto Glass

Repairs
Auto glass chip repairs are a less expensive but effective and safe alternative to a full windshield replacement. The construction of laminated glass is what enables damaged windshields to be repaired: two pieces of glass with a thin layer of vinyl sandwiched in between. To repair chips and retain visual clarity and safety, the damaged area should not exceed the size of a quarter (larger repair sites impair visibility and hinder structural integrity).
Repairs are completed within about 15 minutes by a certified auto glass repair technician, who drills into the lamination at the impact point and then injects a pressurized resin, which bonds to the center vinyl layer and keeps the chip from spreading.
Although the repair does not disappear 100 percent, the repair should keep the chip from spreading and prolong to need for a full replacement. Most chip repairs last the lifetime of the vehicle; however, there is no guarantee against breakage on repairs. If a problem occurs later at the point‑of‑impact, AV Auto Glass will apply the amount paid for the repair toward the labor cost of a full replacement.
Replacements
AV Auto Glass uses OEM- and DOT-approved parts and adhesives.
The average replacement takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. The cost for replacement parts varies depending on the year, make, and model of the vehicle as well as the glass being replaced (for example, a small quarter rear glass tends have a higher price tag than many windshields). AV Auto Glass offers a lifetime warranty that covers most water and air leakage.
Remove and Reinstall (R&R)
To protect undamaged glass during auto body repairs, AV Auto Glass offers R&R service. The removed glass is protected and stored until the time at which the vehicle body is repaired and ready for the glass to be reinstalled. There is no guarantee against breakage, damage, or scratches when removing and reinstalling auto glass.
